With 3,500 meters of extension, Campeche´s beach is between Joaquina´s beach and Morro das Pedras beach. The white and thin sand sometimes forming a hill with drifted sand, named dune. The thick sea with cold water sometimes gets with a great quantity of salt. The strong waves are really appreciated by the surfers. Campeche also has tha Lagoa da Chica Chica´s Lagoon), Lagoa Pequena (Small Lagoon), Morro do Lampião (Lampião´s Hill), beautiful dunes and a lot of nice people. In the sports area, Campeche has a great possibility for surfing (one of the best waves of Brazil), kite surf, fishing and birds’ observation. In the summer, radio and tv networks in partnership with gyms, organize sports and gym programs´ championships on the beach.

Trekking in Morro do Lampião (Lampião´s Hill)

Leaving from bosque dos eucalíptos and following in the middle of the atlantic forest is the top of Morro do Lampião, where is possible to see a privileged view from the island.

Curiosities

During the 1920´s, the French air mail installed in Campeche a landing field that was used to fill in the flights between Paris and Buenos Aires. The rout´s commander, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, utilized the time to rest and make friends with the people that lived around. From the writer´s adventures, the landing field of Sociêté Latécoère is the only thing that has left, first international airport of the south of Brazil and named after the author most famous story and Campeche´s main street; Pequeno Príncipe (The Little Prince).

Gastronomy

Several restaurants serve the delicious typical gastronomy. The cooking of sea food, fishes and garnishes like rice, beans and “pirão”, are made in traditional crocks that guarantee the special flavor of the food, normally served in buffets. In the evenings, the suggestion is the bars on the seafront with live music.
